Ingrid French is a personal manager and owner of Ingrid French Management, a dynamic talent management company. She represents actors (and models) for commercial print, commercials, television, film, theatre and voice overs. Casting Director, Lori Malkin, has been with Paladino Casting for over 6 years casting Film, TV, commercials, hosting, music videos, and print. Paladino Casting is one of the fastest growing and well respected casting houses in New York City.
Lori started her career at Casting House in 2003, where she worked on several indie features including “The Perfect Fit” with Adrian Grenier and “A New Wave” with John Krazinski. Lori also worked for Discovery Networks as their Talent Coordinator. She has cast hosts across all ten Discovery Networks. After Discovery, Lori continued to freelance with Casting House, where she cast several projects with Miramax and Michael Bay's “Amityville Horror.” She also worked on shows for ABC, NBC, MTV and BBC before making her final move to Paladino Casting.
Lori prides herself on being very hands-on with clients and talent to get the best possible performances for every project. WHAT IS A SHOWCASE?
Don't let the name scare you. "Showcases" are basically one-on-one meet and greets with the agent (or manager or casting director) where you read a scene (sitting in a chair against a reader) all by yourself with the agent.
I can not think of a better way to get an agent or get in front of a casting director. Go ahead and try a mass mailing and see what that will bring. I doubt even one agent will call you. Or you can pray you book an off, off broadway show and then pray again that even one agent will show up and then pray even harder that this one agent will pick you up...OR you can come, and very cheaply, to our showcases and meet them effortlessly each week.
Los Angeles, which is way more progressive does it this way too. There are some places in NYC that do these as well but they will charge you two, three or four times as much. Being a sucker for our fellow actor, we keep the price as low as we can possibly do it.
Many of our actors got piked up too. For example one of our actors booked an agent and a manager and went on to book "Power Rangers", two episodes of "30 Rock", is up for a part in "Spiderman 4", booked commercials and basically gets sent out all the time. Needless to say he now has his SAG card. My sister and I have been called in to three agents and are each working with an agent, and Jackie and I have both gone out on feature films from casting directors who came to our showcases. There are a bunch more success stories from our showcases who would have never been had they never applied themselves.
How it works:
Bring yourself and a picture and resume if you have one (if you dont have one dont worry just send it and they will have a second time to see your face plus you won't get another opportunity to see them!) I have plenty of scenes for you that I get from real TV shows and film. However you are more than welcome to do a monologue or prepare your own scene (see www.mocksides.com for free sides but be sure to print two for you and the reader!)
Though it is not at all mandatory... I am more than happy to coach you an hour on your scenes. This way you can use it for every showcase and kick butt!
You can come anytime between the allotted two hours. Just keep in mind that we do a Q&A at the top of the hour so you may want to be there for that. Otherwise you can come late and leave as soon as you are done.
If you are reading a scene you can read with me (or my sis) or any other available actor. You go in and read with the reader by yourself in front of the agent/casting director. We don't make you do it in front of the class! We try to make it as fun, easy and stress free as possible!
We usually charge $30 which is the cheapest in town. This is nothing compared to what can come out of it. We are super, super inexpensive! Work a little harder so you can use the extra money to enhance your acting career! You can pay on PayPal, or bring cash or check at the door.
It's a new year! Make a promise to get an agent and to get in front of those casting directors! It's time to step it up and take your acting career more seriously!
